Trainee Member | Internal Medicine Pediatrics Residency & Tulane Cancer Center

Justine Po, MD, is an Internal Medicine-Pediatrics resident at Tulane and a physician-scientist in training. Her research characterizes modifiable cancer risk factors and evaluates interventions that improve cancer outcomes, from prevention to survivorship. She is building toward a research program in personalized cancer prevention: applying AI and machine learning to risk prediction and early detection, and testing lifestyle interventions (diet, physical activity, mindfulness) delivered through primary care and community settings.  In five years of mentored cancer epidemiology research at USC, she led the evaluation of Es Tiempo, a culturally tailored cervical cancer screening campaign in Hispanic communities (JNCI Cancer Spectrum, 2025), and characterized HPV vaccination knowledge and uptake among Hispanic women and their children (ASCO, 2026). Her analysis of financial toxicity and delayed care among cancer survivors received an ASCO Conquer Cancer Merit Award (2025).In environmental epidemiology, she led a gene-air pollution interaction analysis in the Children's Health Study (Genetic Epidemiology, 2025) and co-first-authored a Multiethnic Cohort analysis of airport ultrafine particles and lung cancer risk (CEBP, 2024).
